D&W Website Redesign

Redesigning a luxury antiques shopping experience to feel curated, intuitive, and timeless.

Industry :

Luxury Retail

Client :

D&W Antiques

Project Duration :

2 Weeks

Overview :

D&W Antiques is a luxury antiques retailer offering a curated selection of furniture, décor, and one-of-a-kind pieces. This UX case study focused on reimagining their e-commerce experience to better reflect the craftsmanship, history, and value of their inventory while making browsing and purchasing feel more intuitive for modern shoppers.

The goal of this project was to bridge the gap between the in-store experience of discovering antiques and the online shopping journey. I approached this as a UX and UI design project, focusing on clarity, storytelling, and thoughtful interaction design to help users explore confidently and feel connected to each piece.

Problem & Approach :

Shopping for antiques online presents a unique challenge. Unlike standard e-commerce products, antique pieces are highly individual, often expensive, and deeply tied to history and craftsmanship. On the existing site, users could feel overwhelmed by dense layouts, limited context, and a lack of guidance when browsing or evaluating pieces, making it harder to trust purchasing decisions.

To address this, I analyzed the browsing experience from the perspective of a luxury customer who values curation, detail, and confidence. I focused on understanding how users explore high-end home goods, what information helps them feel secure when purchasing, and how storytelling can elevate perceived value. These insights informed a design approach centered on reducing friction, highlighting key product details, and creating a calm, gallery-like browsing experience that mirrors how customers would engage with antiques in person.

SOLUTION & OUTCOME :

The final design presents a refined e-commerce experience that emphasizes clarity, elegance, and storytelling. The redesigned interface prioritizes strong visual hierarchy, generous spacing, and clear navigation to help users browse collections without feeling overwhelmed. Each product page highlights essential details such as materials, dimensions, and provenance, while allowing imagery to take center stage and communicate the uniqueness of each piece.

By treating each product as an individual story rather than a standard listing, the experience helps users feel more confident and connected throughout the purchasing journey. The result is a modern, luxury-forward concept that balances usability with aesthetic restraint, demonstrating how thoughtful UX design can elevate trust, discovery, and engagement in a high-end retail context.
